The weather was fine, the stalls were set up and there was a queue at the gates at 11am. What a great start to Gala day.
Thank you for making the Gala such a great day out for our boys and for supporting it with such enthusiasm. We had plenty of helpers for stalls on the day, everything went smoothly (though a few of us didn’t stop running!) and the grand total of $50,000 Net ($62,000 Gross) was made – this will go towards the new library fit-out and new classrooms, which our boys will enjoy next year.
Thank you to the amazingly ever helpful and committed staff at Wellesley. Many of the teachers put their hands up to get soaked (not sure if they realized how wet they were going to get!) and managed or helped on stalls. The wonderful Wellesley Groundsman Gerard made a great announcer and kept everyone informed. Elmo, Big Bird and Clown (you know who you are) were a huge hit with the littlies. Thank you Margie for guiding the Gala team with your insight and wisdom into how Wellesley works. I am really, sorry if I have missed anyone out, but a huge thank you to ALL the staff at Wellesley.
And thank YOU. Thank you for putting up with the constant stream of communication from the Gala team. Thank you for supporting the inter classroom competitions and all the new events which were introduced this year. Wasn’t the Car Squeeze entertaining and didn’t those Birdhouses look amazing!
Special thank you must be made to the following people who have been with us from the start and had a very, very large part to play in this years Gala:
Alison Turner. She did so much more than just coordinate the food stalls (there were 18 of those!). She helped prepare each edition of Gala News, was on the Gala Auction Committee and provided valuable background knowledge on how to run a Gala.
Sue Webster. Note the trainers she wore on Gala day – someone who did not stop running! She managed the Events and Field Activities – huge task that went off without a hitch.
Thank you to the Gala Committee team – Anders Waiker (infrastructure), Phil Adamson (PA Representative), Helen Clarke (Advertising and Marketing), Lucy Ross (Website), Timberly Hughes (Treasury) and Kimberley Bramley-Stott (Security and Traffic Management). Thank you for all your time and effort in making this a great day out.
Thank you
Amanda Wilkins
