Background information on these competitions:

As part of the build up to the 2011 Wellesley Gala, we are holding inter classroom competitions.   Each classroom has been given a Gala box.  Your son can bring 1 item per week or 1 item per day – up to you!  The classroom that brings in the most items each week is the weekly winner and each boy in that classroom will get a prize.  The overall winning classroom will be based on consistent contributions.

The Student Council are going to be responsible for the daily collection and tallying up the contributions.  There will be a Tally board in the foyer.  They are classroom challenges, so collectively the boys need to work together and remind each other of what the weekly item is. The weekly prizes for each boy in the winning classroom are super cool - based around The All Blacks. The overall prize is a mufti day in term 4 with ice blocks (not to mention bragging rights).

These competitions are aimed at supporting the very generous people who have put up their hands to convene various 2011 Gala stalls and activities. The items requested will be used as field activity prizes or packaged for on sale on stalls (lucky dip, deli hamper, chicken wheel baskets etc). So please support this initiative and make this years’ Gala the best ever!

Items requested – put in your diaries NOW:

WEEK 1: 12th - 16th September - Chocolate Bars

Small chocolate bars will be used as prizes for field activities and larger bars will be used in cooking, sweet making and filling the chocolate raffle basket.  We will need A LOT of chocolate!

Prize:  Every boy in the winning classroom will get an All Blacks Pencil and All Blacks Poster!

WEEK 2: 19th - 23rd September - New Toys under $5

New toys which cost less than $5. These items will be used as lucky dip items for the junior school stall, with any extras on sold on the toy stall. No Mac Donald's or fast food toys please. Good place to buy these is again the supermarket, $2 shop or The Warehouse. Boys' and girls' toys. Buy something you would like your child to bring home from the Gala.

Prize:  Each boy in the winning classroom will receive a super bouncy All Blacks ball.

WEEK 3: 26th - 30th September - Deli/Luxury/Everyday items

These items are for the hampers that the Deli team wish to raffle at the Gala. They will also help fill the baskets for the Chicken (Raffle) Wheel. Examples of items (new please) are bottled sauces, jams, cook books, aprons, tea towels, napkins, tongs, wooden spoons, cups, glasses. Really any practical/novel kitchen item that is not perishable. The Deli team really want to make impressive hampers!  Everyday items will be packaged for the Chicken (Raffle) Wheel and if everyone brought just one extra item in the weekly shop and donated it, these baskets would soon fill up.

Prize:  $5 Gala Dollars.  Specially designed notes, to be treated as CASH on Gala day.   Each boy in the winning classroom will receive one.
